Montepulciano e Torrita di Siena

Qui si può avere un’idea di quello che è il modello ideale di rinascimento toscano, a Montepulciano, città raffinatissima disegnata su un colle che spartisce la Val di Chiana dalla Val d’Orcia, gioielli anch’essi delle terre di Siena. Il centro storico culmina in Piazza Grande, che è forse il punto dove si rappresenta maggiormente il complesso della cultura di questo luogo magico. E’ una piazza ariosa, ma è anche il luogo degli incontri, degli eventi, dei set cinematografici di respiro internazionale, del teatro all’aperto, delle suggestioni regalate da concerti e dai tanti appuntamenti che qui si svolgono in ogni momento dell’anno. Il palcoscenico è dato dal grande sagrato della Cattedrale; le quinte sono i palazzi disegnati dai più grandi architetti del ‘500 italiano. Il borgo è tutto un susseguirsi di botteghe artigiane, di cantine monumentali che si stendono nel sottosuolo della città, di locali dove si possono degustare e acquistare le migliori tipicità di questa terra: il vino, l’olio, i formaggi e la carne. Tutto il resto, emozioni e ricordi da portarsi dentro per sempre, si potranno respirare perdendosi piacevolmente nel borgo.

Siamo nella Val di Chiana Senese, terra di tradizioni, di valori forti, di caratteri ribelli, ma anche di sapienza artigiana e di un amore per la terra che è tramandata da secoli come l’eredità più preziosa: ecco Torrita di Siena, ben racchiusa dentro alle sue mura, gelosa di se stessa, tuttavia accogliente per mostrare al visitatore attento i suoi tesori d’arte, di sapori, di eventi sentiti con orgoglio e partecipazione da tutta la comunità, come il Palio dei Somari, che ogni anno, in un tutt’uno di emozioni, unisce e divide la città. Le vie del centro storico sono raccolte in un piccolo dedalo di vicoli e di strade, i ritmi sono rarefatti, le voci e i silenzi riportano a dimensioni finalmente umane, dove contano anche e soprattutto i particolari, come la cultura del cibo, che deriva direttamente dalla volontà di vivere facendo riferimento ai saperi più antichi. Tutto attorno si stende il mare immobile delle colline, mentre un dedalo di strade bianche invita ad attraversare, alla giusta velocità, lo spazio e il tempo.

Percorso

Il percorso, che si inerpica sulle bellissime colline attraversando 3 settori di sterrato, è unico, 101 Km e 1889 mt di dislivello. 

I tratti di sterrato sono le famose strade bianche, quelle che attraversano immensi vigneti ed uliveti, le stesse che i professionisti affrontano. Il nome di queste strade è dovuto al tipico colore del brecciolino sulla terra resa secca dalle tipiche estati toscane. L'arrivo è preceduto da un duro strappo che porta alla piazza del mercato da dove si è partiti.

Per questa corsa non è richiesta alcuna bici speciale, tanto meno una gravel bike. Una bici da corsa equipaggiata con coperture 25 o 28 mm con cerchi basso o medio profilo è la migliore scelta tecnica per GFNY Italia.

LA MAGLIA TECNICA: la maglia ufficiale GFNY Italia, prodotta e cucita in Italia, è inclusa nel vs pacco gara, e deve essere indossata dall’inizio a fine gara previa esclusione dalla GF; in questo modo le nostre scorte tecniche, la polizia e tutti i mezzi di soccorso sapranno identificarvi come nostri corridori e vi forniranno pronta assistenza in caso di bisogno.

FINISHER MEDAL: ogni corridore che porterà a termine la corsa riceverà la medaglia ufficiale GFNY Italia. Tutti i corridori che parteciperanno a 3 corse GFNY del nostro GFNY World Championship, riceveranno la medaglia 3X Finisher o quella di 10X finisher in caso di 10.
